In each role as CEO he has led the rejuvenation of businesses often lagging in the transformation into the digital-age and the myriad of customer experience, client management, sales and service channel development.

  • Recent assignments have seen Gary take his transformation model into the Drug & Alcohol Rehabilitation industry and then again back into transforming an online insurance company on the path towards profit after 10-years of top line growth.

    As seen during his time as CEO and Country Manager of CIGNA Thailand. Within just 5-years through civil unrest, the GFC and the worst Thailand floods in 100 years, he took the business from a $7m loss to a $4.5m profit. Prior to that he has been Regional CEO for ReMark in Singapore, regional VP Bancassurance for AIG and Head of Direct Marketing for the Bank of Melbourne.

    During his time as CEO of Cigna Thailand he was responsible for business turnaround management, business development, the strategic design of affinity marketing partnerships & programs, and establishing strategic alliances with brands such as Citibank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, GE Finance, Bank of Ayudhya, Siam Commercial Bank, Krung Thai Cards, Reader’s Digest and Octopus Card in Hong Kong. He also created bancassurance strategies for the Bank of Asia; Bangkok Bank (Thailand), Max New York Life (India), Birla Sunlife (India) Southern Bank Bhd (Malaysia), ChinaTrust Bank (Taiwan) and Bank Permata (Indonesia).

    Now back in Melbourne, Gary is sharing his knowledge and expertise across a range of business-building and affinity marketing initiatives. His strategic and pragmatic approach along with an ability to achieve extraordinary results has earned him an enviable success record in performance improvement & business turnaround management.

  • Gary was our Chief Executive Officer. We both are Executive Committee Board members of the CSG which met monthly to review the important issues in relations to the operation and financial performance of the group.

    When Gary started at CSG, the revenues/patients-customers were down because of the new regulation from Google preventing the advertising of addiction treatment on Google which was the main channel how CSG previously obtained patients-customers. Gary had to establish the new channel, Affinity Partner to diversify away from Google advertisement which he successfully accomplished within a few months. He built and led the team of 4-5 people to reach and cover the major partners around the globe in a short period of time and always report regular updates to the CSG Executive Committee. He also supervised the team to successfully recruit the Head of Clinical Unit from the US to lead the clinical operations of CSG, one of the most critical success factors for addiction treatment businesses.     Throughout the period of 11 months that Gary led the team, we asked the management team (11 members) to evaluate how Gary performed and the overall score came out over 80% with the strongest score on the fact that he had generated a good working environment for employees and also presenting the good image for the Company's brand and reputation. His weak score (70%) was on the good understanding of the business and all department activities which I felt was a fair comment given the fact that Gary did not have a direct industry background before joining CSG.
